Re: I Feel Like I'm Going To Combust.

Southwestern PA.  Miserable weather.  We had our thunderstorms about 45 minutes ago, it hasn't cooled off much.  And as result of storm our electricity went out.

Re: I Feel Like I'm Going To Combust.

I believe my hobbies and my 30+ year work environment allowed my body to be able to much easier acclimate to both weather extremes. Just as a body can acclimate to less oxygen when going from zero sea level, to 5,000 foot above sea level, a fully healthy and functional body can do so.

Did I enjoy working in a 100-120° factory? No I did not, but running outdoors in weather around 95° after work was much more pleasant than working in it, plus I enjoyed the results.

Growing up playing hockey on frozen ponds for hours when I could, allowed my body to easier acclimate to really cold temperatures.

Now even in my ripe old age of 80+, heat and humidity or frigid cold weather, my body isn't distressed near the same of some of the posts I will probably read here. In cold weather, proper layering of clothes can keep ones much warmer, but too many do not dress that way for severe cold.

I have hypothyroidism and that may be one reason for not being able to tolerate high heat and humidity.  I have been on meds for a long time and my levels have been good.  I too do not understand people who love heat and humidity and more so how they can be comfortable.  I am not one to be in air conditioning a lot but when it is hot out there, I do welcome it.  Stay safe.

Re: I Feel Like I'm Going To Combust.

I have no idea why some love the hot/humid summers and seem to thrive; but I do know I am one of those people. Other than the Christmas season, this is my favorite time of the year.

Maybe it is related to what you grew up with? We were taken to the family farm to work frequently throughout the summer, and I'm in the deep south. Don't get me wrong, we got to play too, but we also worked our little cabooses off. The youngest among us would get to at least sit and pick off peanuts or participate in rinsing them and at least get the benefit of the water splashing on you lol....as you got older you moved up in chores (weeding, hoeing, planting, picking). I particularly disliked suckering tobacco--but fondly remember the cool dirt floor of the tobacco barns. We would be so filthy by the time the day was over my Mom would keep old sheets in our big LTD to cover the car seats (front and back) on the way home.

Good times though, and good memories. I still love to garden and farm today.

Re: I Feel Like I'm Going To Combust.

If you're east of lower MI and my weather heads your way, west to east, it's cooler this a.m. 57 to be exact.  It was supposed to be windy enough that the guys aren't out on the lake fishing this morning.  But, it's dead still out right this moment. My windows are shut, so humidity I can't speak to.

Re: I Feel Like I'm Going To Combust.

Probably 15 years ago I came home from work on a God awful beastly hot/humid day. The ride home was terrible, my car was like an oven and it took forever to feel the air-conditioner.

DH had the day off and when I came in the LR it was cool.  He had gone and gotten an air conditioner  and it was purring away in the LR window.

I was so hot and uncomfortable, even feeling half sick, I went in the bathroom, stripped down, wrapped a towel around me and went in the LR.  DH laughed and asked what I was doing.  I stood in front of the AC and opened the towel.  Remember Golden Girls when the AC broke and they found Sophia standing with her robe open in front of the open freezer door.

That was my Sophia Petrillo moment.  It was heaven.

[ Edited ]

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Smiley LOL  That's how it's done!

I actually don't use air conditioning because I am cold in any temp below 80 degrees.  The new owners at work keep it like an icebox and I finally for the first time in my almost 20 years here broke down and brought in an electric blanket to keep under my desk this week.   Between that and my Irish sweaters and walking down to the mail box to warm up, I'm getting through the workday.

I am a little ticked I won't be able to change to my summer wardrobe and I have to keep with the winter because it's literally so cold my nose runs but what can you do?  I wish I could borrow some of you with the warm blood.  Mine is ice cold.

@Laura14  sorry, this is off topic, but what ever happened in your job?  I missed the last chapter.  Thanks.

Re: I Feel Like I'm Going To Combust.

@qualitygal  I don't think I ever posted the saga's end. Turns out the new owners did keep me and they didn't touch my salary.  I am very lucky and very blessed with everything that's gone on in the world.

The pharmacy thing just became so unprofessional and ridiculous that, in this area, not for me right now.  But I did reup my license for a possible future return.

The new people gave me a vase full of flowers and basically restored me to what I was over a decade ago at my FT day job which has been nice.  Some minor irritation as expected but the stress has literally melted to a much more manageable degree.  I can not believe how bad my life was for so long and it makes me sad I put up with it and just became a really ugly person in a lot of ways.

As a result, I have actually moved on to my own dream of self publishing so I am taking my time to write up a whole bunch of books for publication.  I've submitted a couple of chapters to traditional publishers too who have been really enthusiastic about my writing skills so I know I am on the right path for me.

That's the Laura update.  LOL  Thanks for asking!  Smiley Happy

Re: I Feel Like I'm Going To Combust.

@Laura14  I run the AC at 78 or 80. For me it's not the heat...it's the humidity.
