I don't mind winter as much now that I am retired and can choose whether to go out in the snow and cold weather, but I do miss the nice ripe produce from local farm stands.  I bought a package of strawberries which looked good in the store,  but after I removed the green top, nothing was ripe underneath and the strawberries are a little sour.  So disappointing.

A challenge to find good ripe fruit....wonderful that you have access to it in the summer!

The summers seem to be getting hotter and hotter each year.  After hearing about Australia's summer this year, I dread seeing what we get.  I do miss the fruits and veggies and the longer days, but they'll all return soon.

I am too this year, more than I ever have.  That's amazing for me.  I miss leaves, and getting out and colors of the warm sun-kissed flowers.  Our winter hasn't been that horrible, so it makes me itch more for good weather.  I want to jump off the tightrope.

I'm retired and relieved to no longer worry about getting to work when it's nasty out.  Right now, it is -8 degrees with wind chill of -30.  Brrrrrr.  My dog won't go out when it's this cold.

Re: I Am Yearning for Summer

I don't like the bleak days and the bare trees but where I live in the deep south the temperature is not so cold in the winter. But summer is a different story as @Kachina624  said the summers are getting hotter and hotter and I'll add longer and longer. We have 90 + temps from June to mid October with very little fall.  We had a beautiful snow here in north GA last Saturday and I loved it. Got to wear my snow boots and my down coat for the first time while I "played" in the snow.  To us here snow is a treat. But to my northern friends I know it anything but a treat.

Re: I Am Yearning for Summer

I miss heat! My poor old bones could use some good old sun and heat. I too don't have to venture out if I don't want but that can get frustrating and lonely. I treasure all the days of summer. I don't care how hot  I don't have to shovel it. I have always said the only good thing about cold weather is pockets. Think about it the first time you don't need a coat your like oh yea no pockets for keys or phone. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Re: I Am Yearning for Summer

I love summer.

Can't really complain about winter this year though.  So far, so good.  Unfortunately that usually means March will be a snowy mess...
