Our winter here in NE PA hasn't been as bad as it usually is.  Not much snow or bitterly cold weather, although Saturday morning is to be 8 degrees.  Next week up tp 40/45.  No wonder my sinuses are going crazy.

It's been so darn dark and dreary and rainy.  My joints don't like the damp weather.

I know from experience March can be a doozy.  We got married in March and on our 1st anniversary we got 12 in. of snow.  That was the end of March too.

I am so looking forward to the 1st nice spring morning.  Relatively warm and sunny.  My backside will be on the porch with coffee watching the sun come up.

I usually love winter cause I am a ,"homebody" and a "loner" ..lol  but I must admit this darkness everyday is starting to get depressing.............

Re: I Am Yearning for Summer

We have had the most dreadful fall/winter weather here in my neck of the pacific northwest, so I am looking forward to spring and summer, and hopefully plentiful sunshine. There is nothing like ice cold, fresh Rainier cherries in the summer.

And when we’re in the middle of June, I just remind myself that this is as bad as it gets; no wondering if the car will start in the cold or how you’ll get to work/home in the ice or snow, etc. I’ve grown to appreciate summer, love to go grocery shopping after dark LOL.

Re: I Am Yearning for Summer

Not yearning for summer. Lasts too long, too hot and too humid. I was hoping for an actual winter this year, but it seems all we've had is gloomy, rainy weather, but not too cold and no snow. I miss having actual distinct seasons. As far as I'm concerned, fall, an actual real fall, is where it's at.

I don't mind winter as much now that I am retired and can choose whether to go out in the snow and cold weather, but I do miss the nice ripe produce from local farm stands.  I bought a package of strawberries which looked good in the store,  but after I removed the green top, nothing was ripe underneath and the strawberries are a little sour.  So disappointing.

I'm retired and relieved to no longer worry about getting to work when it's nasty out.  Right now, it is -8 degrees with wind chill of -30.  Brrrrrr.  My dog won't go out when it's this cold.

@CalminHeart  I have a full time job so must go to work.  The wind chill at the bus stop this morning was -34!  It's a good thing my backpack is full as it helps me not blow away in the winds.  Ugh.  Enjoy your retirement, sweetie, you've earned it!

Thanks for your kind words.  I hope you stayed at least somewhat warm.  I rode the bus and remember doing standing in the super cold for many years.

I love fall too.  The only drawback is that it leads to winter.

Missing my warm weather joy. Sunshine, no coats, walks, bike rides, opening sun roof, not being miserable during grocery shopping and pumping gas, standing on the deck and enjoying the view, standing in the cul-de-sac and talking to neighbors, light way after work is over. I'm a warm weather lady.

Re: I Am Yearning for Summer

it is difficult to find fresh fruit that is good and affordable at this time of year. very frustrating, i agree. they jack the prices up so high it's ridiculous. i love the farmer markets too. the groundhog said we're going to have an early spring. so lets hope he's right. it is 5 degrees where i sit, and it can't come soon enough.

In Florida I dread the summer more than anything.  It is just so awful with the humidity and mosquitos....

Re: I Am Yearning for Summer

There’s so much I miss about summer.  Just being able to go outside without needing layers of clothing - - coats, boots, hats, only to still have your face freeze.  Summer feels lighter and freer.  I enjoy spending more time outdoors and wearing lighter clothing (T-shirts and sandals).  I enjoy the renewal of life, from baby birds to trees and flowers.
