@Jordan2

I would not describe you as a fraud -- at all!  To the contrary.  And when I read your post, I thought --- this sounds a great deal like me and what my life has been like!  I am pretty much an introvert, but make myself social when the need arises.  And as you have written, I don't enjoy large groups or crowds.  I do much better and am more comfortable one on one or with very small groups of friends.  I don't think we are all meant to be extroverts and have the same level of comfort when it comes to dealing with social situations and people.  I don't want to be alone all the time, but I am most comfortable being at home with my husband and I enjoy my peace and quiet and I know how to enjoy my own company!  As for thinking people would not like you if they knew who you really were, no, I do not believe that.  You are you, and you know who you are, and what you are comfortable with.  You have no need to feel bad about the way you feel or who you are!

I think you might be describing a whole lot of people.  You are actually describing me to a tee and I'm fine with it.  I accepted that I don't do well in crowds.  I don't do well in situations where I don't know the people.  I'm reserved by nature.  I prefer being with my circle of friends and my family.  But there are times in life when I have to fake it, as you do. As millions of people do.  That doesn't make you or us frauds.  That makes us normal, flexible, well adjusted people.

I go to work everyday, I say hello to everyone, socialize, I am polite and think people have a favorable opinion of me. This is an act on my part, I put this "mask" on for the outside world, I am so not this person. I'm not good in large groups ( maybe I have social anxiety) but force myself to try and fit in. While I like people I would describe myself as a loner. I don't have this outgoing personality, but you would never know, I hide it well. I am a people pleaser, I guess if I showed people who I really am I think they wouldn't like me.

People do what they gotta do to survive in the world and workplace.... people pleasing only hurts yourself......everyone has their own special talents/skills find yours and use that to show who you are.....AND I bet people would still like you.....theres many introverts that are much admired in the workplace because of their work ethic, realiability, and kindness to others.....

The fake personnas I cant stand are the
"brown nosers" that try to kiss up to the Managers and Execs by putting on the dog and this always positive and upbeat style while in reality they are lazy, they complain about everything and everyone when the Bosses arent around....and just for "being a gift to the world" they want promotions without earning them.....these are the people our work place team doesnt like! THESE ARE THE REAL FRAUDS!

Oh boy, @Spurt some of those brown nosers in my office didn't take a fresh breath of air in twenty years. They'd morph into the personality type of whichever boss we had at the time. If the boss  had Farah Fawcett hair, wore short dresses and had acrylic nails, so did they. If the next boss wore pantsuits and had a manly hairstyle, off came the dresses, nails and ten inches of hair. I was just plain me the whole time.

Yep, the brown nosers missed their calling, they should go to acting school....

So, @Jordan2 , after reading all these posts, what are you thinking?

Were you aware you are an introvert?  Seems there's a lot of us on here.

@Tinkrbl44 I never gave it much thought, I just thought I was socially awkward.
