Rather than sharing 'secrets,'  I think the point of this thread is to celebrate the satisfaction she acquired by handling a situation on her own.  It is a confidence boost.

 

Being a new widow, and living alone for the first time in my life,  I 'get' it.  Baby steps.  Good for you, @Love my grandkids !

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.
