Thank you everyone!

I always start early...February or March. I begin by buying myself a new notebook with pockets on the inside covers.

I make all my lists by person. I still even do “Twelve Days”gifts for my kids. You’d think they would want to let go of that but nooooo LOL!

I also plan which gifts are to be shipped and make a list of shipping supplies if I am shipping from here.

In my notebook is also all of my menu planning from Thanksgiving through New Year. Also any additional or new decorating ideas I want to add this year. Also all of my wrapping supplies for the year. Lately I have fallen in love with those bags by Kringle Express, I buy several sets each year.

@Cakers3

LOL!

I gave up on trying to do the literal interpretation of that years ago. Now it is a small simple gift/trinket.

My son and daughter each have a special Christmas sack that they hang on their doorknob. Every night after they were asleep I would tuck the little goodie inside.

When end they were young it was very easy. Small little toys, little books, a candy cane, etc. As they grew older it because more of a challenge to find something that wouldn’t hike the 12 days up to hundreds of dollars. DD was always easy for little things, girls usually are. Now though there are many cute and inexpensive things online.  Bought all but the candy I will use for one of the days online.

Our DD doesn’t live at home anymore but asked if I would still do her 12 days.

Our DS lives here part time, or anytime we want to have him over or he wants to come. He is disabled and lives in a 4 guy group house 1 mile away. We still do his because he comes home for the holiday season. He does work but they just pick him up from here during that time.

Don’t you get tempted by advertising, etc of new things or remember something you wanted to give? I thank you for your hints on how to accomplish. My problem is I forget where I put my lists!!

@Twins Mom

Once I am done, I am done. I don’t get tempted. If I think it is something I know someone would love I jot it down for other gift giving occasions such as birthdays.

I started using the notebook method when my children were very little, actually when my first was just a baby. Have used it ever since. Makes it all so much easier.

Good for you! But I must say that I'm not really sure why this is something to celebrate or brag about,as some do.   I don't do much christmas shopping until after thanksgiving.  I have a big family and it isn't that hard to do.

I have too many other things I'd prefer to be doing at this time of year, and I've been doing them.

Mine will be done before Halloween. Then just the food which is fun for me. It just makes it stress free for me and then I have time to actually enjoy the season.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

@september

Well I wasn’t trying to brag. I put a LOT of thought into all the gifts I give for everyone. I never said it was hard, but it does take thought for someone who cares.

I also do many things, all year round. Not just at this time of year. I just balance it all out with planning.

I was was just happy to have it done so now I can enjoy the upcoming holiday season enjoying time baking and time with friends and family rather than doing anything last minute.

Enjoy your holidays.
