Has anyone tried hypnosis?   There is a seminar nearby focusing on smoking and the other one is weight loss.

I do not smoke nor am I overweight, but would like to at least try to kick the sugar habit...I am pretty sure that I do not crave sugar, I think it is more of a habit.

Anyone try it and if so what were your results/thoughts.

thanks

Sadly I did try it, to no avail. I still have a very dirty filthy potty mouth!
I went with a few college gal pals on a weekend down the shore. We literally stumbled upon a psychic / hypnotist (fraudster). They went to stop smoking. Stop over eating or stop procrastinating. I wanted to stop being a potty mouth. It didn’t help any of us!

Oh my @MoonieBaby    I to at times have a potty mouth, but at 70 years old doubt I can change that....well darn about the hyposis....I don't think this seminar is fraud, they come to the area about once a year and are hosted by a well known orgaization.

thanks for your feedback

In  1990 the company I worked for offered it free of charge for smoking.  There were 15 or so of us that attended.  The only reason I went was because it was on work time and we got paid for it.

It worked for me but I only know of 2 others who actually quit for good.

I can't say that the treatment was at fault.  Some of the others eventually did give up smoking.

I tried it in the early 1980's from a doctor. It helped.   IDK about using it for smoking and addictions, although it can set your mind more positive. Smoking, drinking and drugs are addictions.  There is some withdrawal there. So I would think using hypnosis from a qualified doctor would help.  You would need other coping mechanisms  for withdrawal. However, to this day, and it is over 40 years later... the key words he gave me come back to me.

My friend is trained and certified in hypnosis and YES it absolutely works. It may take a few sessions and you have to want to change and be willing to get to the real reason behind the habits you're wanting to change. Smoking is the hardest habit to break through hypnosis.

Years ago my Mom did hypnosis to quit smoking and it worked.  It was a private session not a group one.

On the other hand my Dad quit smoking cold turkey, so did my husband with no help.

I listen to hypnosis on Prime on and off for deep sleep & weight loss etc.  I think it's relaxing.

Re: Hypnosis anyone

[ Edited ]

I did but went to a doctor and it worked out fine.  I wanted to get up the enthusiasm to exercise more.  He told me that whenever I am procrastinating over something to say "do it now".  I use it all the time especially to get me out of bed.  That was 40 years ago and it still works.

I think you should go @Mom2Dogs .  If I was a smoker or overweight, I would consider going.

I would still be interested in hypnosis @Mom2Dogs, I’m more than sure the silly storefront on the boardwalk down the Jersey shore was probably just a bored housewife that lured us in with her neon colored signage! Loads of people must find it rewarding or seminars and such would not be offered.
