I will try and make a long story short! Took Chloe to the vet in May because she stopped eating her dry food and was loosing weight. Vet said teeth didn't look bad but should have her teeth cleaned. Due to my work schedule up until this past week I couldn't get her in until this coming week. Meanwhile I did take her back about 12 days ago to have her ears checked again and we saw a different vet this time. I told her Chloe's recent problems and she said she wanted to test her blood b4 getting teeth cleaned. The test came back as positive for Hyperthyroidism. She is in the high normal range. I was given pills to give her (1 daily) and she is to go back next week to have her blood tested again. They don't want to put her under anesthesia until this is under control as she is a senior cat. I am upset that during the visit in May the vet didn't do this test, but at least they did on the last visit.
Has anyone had a cat with this? I know it is common in senior cats. She has lost over 2 lbs to date. Also, is there a dry food that is rather soft? If she has a tooth that is bothering her maybe that is why she has turned her nose up to the dry food.
Thanks for your help.
