calcgirl, I think your feelings are normal and human. Maybe it just finalizes what you've been thinking which could be that you're mourning the loss of your husband and feeling that those travel points were supposed to be for you and for him to use. And now that hope is gone.

I'm so sorry this has happened. I don't blame you at all for feeling as you do. Be kind to yourself as you're missing your husband and the plans you had.

Maybe because it might've been nice had he asked: "mom, would you mind if..." Chances are you'd have said go right ahead. I do get why you'd feel a little put off. Just announcing it seems a bit callous.

Yep, I agree. I grew up in a predominantly male family. Some would not think of doing something without discussing it first, others would make decisions and inform of everyone once they're done. They just have different approaches to things. Doesn't mean they don't love their family members.

You might be right. Then again, some just don't think ahead, they just do and then deal with the consequences. My dad used to be that way. He was raised to be the leader and he never shrank from a decision that had to be made. Over time, I noticed he got a little softer since even though he had 5 sons, he also had 2 daughters. We have some interesting conversations now and I am even more impressed with his life decisions than ever before. That generation of WWII vets sure got the job done, took responsibility and supported their families! They truly were/are heroes to me.
