Death toll update: 49 people including two firefighters.  But people missing.  So it might possibly rise. I saw some the photos.  Just terrible.

My heat goes out to the people and their families.  I wonder if they had set up a fund?

@Coastalcarolina

The devastation is terrifying.

That chunk of highway taken out is also very terrifying...and dangerous.

@Coastalcarolina

Did you take this picture?

If you did, it is award winning.

This photo is worthy of news footage.

IMO.it shows the destruction that can come with inland hurricane winds and rain.

@songbird

So glad everything is fine where you are, in Maryland.

That storm WAS huge...covering those states at once.

I was surprised yesterday while checking the rain forecast, that the bands of rain changed direction, which is to be expected based on the circular motion of the storm.

TWC is saying 44 dead.  Is this due to people not heeding evacuation orders?  At least get your kids & pets out to safety. That would be my first priority.

@BalletBabe  - Glad you're safe and sound.  A poster just mentioned death toll up to 44.  Omg.

There have been lots of local "Reels" post on Facebook and the devastation is unbelievable!

I love the little town of Cedar Key and it was "decimated" by this storm.

We've had floods up to a foot but this flood was 6' to 8'.  It left a foot of sand on the roads in the Coastal towns.  Can you imagine trying to remove 1 foot of wet sand from your home!

Lots of prayers needed.

Just found that reason to declutter my closet!  I sure it can be used now!

@LTT1  I was a little shocked at the westerly turn.  It usually hangs an eastern turned.  We would have been swamped with water.  Till the next one.  The hurricane season has been extended.  Not more hurricanes....but stronger ones.
