Read that the Hurricane Patricia has now been downgraded to a Category 2... in our area of TX, we have had lots and lots of rain... how about you?

Gotta remember folks when a storm is in the Pacific - it's a Typhoon NOT a hurricane.  Hurricane's are from the Atlantic.

When did things get mixed up?

Sounds like the storm will mostly affect Mexico.  Which means U.S. news outlets will mostly ignore it.  Smiley Mad

Not here in So CA where many many from Mexico have relocated.

actually, it depends on where the storm was formed.

@brii

I mean to hit reply and not heart your post. Perhaps you will be affected if you are in the path of one of the states that will be affected by this monster storm.  Texas, Louisiana. The moisture from this is a monster.

That's the only reason that I could think of that you would be notified.

@brii@icezeus@onewhitesparrow

Perhaps people who will be traveling would experience a delay at airports, such as those who have connecting flights.

DFW had lots if flights cancelled yesterday.

Wonder if onewhitesparrow was able to continue with travel plans?

Incorrect.  It depends upon where the hurricane/typhoon has formed.  Patricia is a hurricane (and basically they are they same difference anyway).

Love Roses is wrong. Typhoons originate,and continue PAST the International Date Line (west of Hawaii) even if they are classified as a Pacific Ocean Hurricane (in our hemisphere) according to TWC. Yes, it's crazy but so are these megaStorms, that make their way back to North America! SCARY! Smiley Sad

Re: Hurricane Patricia

[ Edited ]

Returned yesterday from Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo and one more location I can't remember right now.

The hurricane went right between these two locations.   Nature toned down.  Which was good for all.

We went by sea.   The ship crew members remember us from the last trip...good to go to places where we are remembered.  Of course we remembered them.

They told the stories that the ship was in the area when the ship was told a hurricane was coming their way.   Hold on tight because the ship was going to go as fast as it can travel to get out of that area.   They said it was a wild ride heading back to Ca.   They said the ship road smooth in the waters.

Our trip was smooth and relaxing coming and going.
