On my way home, there were a few Jackson EMC trucks running through. I have to say I have never seen GA take Mother Nature this seriously before and we're not getting the major hit, only the backend run of a Tropical Storm, so they say. Makes me wonder if they think it could be worse than that. 

Got the front porch and back deck empty of the little things and bigger things so we are about ready. We'll wait until tomorrow to see if we need to bring the furniture down or away.

Storm surge/flooding is such a big killer with these systems.

We're over on FL's east coast, and are not in any direct path as of now (fingers crossed).

But in an abundance of caution local authorities have already advised we are under a state of emergency for Thursday's expected weather:

"State of emergency declared as storm preparations continue

Local forecasts predict intermittent tropical storm-force wind gusts, rainfall totals of 3-6 inches, and storm surges of up to 3 feet on Thursday".

So between this and local news reports it sounds like any storm bands we get over here might give us lots of power outages due to wind, lots of rain, possible tornadoes, strong winds, intracoastal flooding on one side and the ocean pounding on the other, but nothing compared to what some others will endure.

Self serve sandbag stations are open across the area for people to fill and the way the sand piles are going down on the news it looks like many have taken advantage of that and will be prepared for whatever comes. Glad we're on a high floor so no flood worries for us.

Also hoping it's not too rough (ruff?) here because having a senior dog who needs to go out x 4 a day is no fun for the dog. He always looks up like "You don't really expect me to go out in this mess do you?" LOL.

During the last storm the building had a whole corner of the underground parking lined with fresh turf squares of sod/grass with a little plastic hydrant so the dogs that absolutely refused to go out still had a place to go. I thought that was a nice gesture. 

I know every FL resident is praying for everyone, everywhere who will be in the bullseye or who will be affected until it passes. Bless you!

We are more central FL.  Not far from Orlando or Ocala.  We will get the wind and some rain.  But we have a lot of friends up and down the west coast.  🙏 for everyone along the path.  Georgia folks you all take care as well.  Sometimes the tropical storms are worse than the hurricane.

There were gas lines, no power for 2+ weeks, and they are still redoing the lower floor condos here almost 2 years later! I live in Ft. Myers .... this is exactly what happened with Ian

..It was supposed to hit Big Bend ... then Tampa ....well

If the eye follows the path in the cone, we will still get lots of rain and maybe some strong winds!  Take care!

 Yikes, the Weather Channel just estimated she is 300 miles across! Helene is huge. At 11 pm they went ahead and put us under a tropical storm warning here - upgraded from a watch - even though we're clear over on the east coast of FL.

I feel so scared for those who are directly in her way - they're talking 10 to 15 foot storm surge possible. I hope people listen and evacuate if required and don't try and ride it out in those areas.
