Hurricane Helene

[ Edited ]

Anyone in the path of this storm?  I think it's expected to be named and upgraded today.

I am in Atlanta so obviously not on the gulf coast, but they're, as of right now, showing this system to come up through Georgia and the map I saw this morning showed a possible 6 inches of rain here in my area. We have been bone dry here.  Beyond bone dry, but 6 inches in 24 hours is quite a lot for the ground to absorb. They're also calling for sustained winds of 25-35 mph.  Possible trees down and power outages.

I went grocery shopping this morning.  I have tons of flameless candles and batteries. Today I'm going to charge all my external chargers.

Oh, and I filled up my car with gas yesterday.

For those in Florida and South Georgia, take care.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

we just got a tropical storm watch this morning. We are in the eastern edge of the cone. If the storm shifts even a little bit east, we will get a lot more impact. Lakeland Florida

On the storm's current predicted track western NC will also take quite a hit.  Rain is very much needed but not the possible 5-7 inches at once.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

Seems like this storm is sneaking up on everyone and taking a similar path to the last one.  Be careful all of you in the path of it.  I'm in the northeast but I have a nephew in the panhandle of Florida.

@smoochy - a close friend of mine lives in Lakeland. I talked to her last night and she was real "low energy" about it. I'm going to talk to her again tonight.

small world! Yeah being inland we don't have to worry about storm surge. I'm not in a flood zone thank goodness. We will likely get the high winds and torrential rains with thunderstorms

when we moved here in 2018, Hurricane Irma had come through and did a lot of damage in Lakeland. Our home that we bought had a new roof and new privacy fence as a result. Ppl here still talk about that storm
