I will be retiring soon.
I stay in daily contact with a friend who has been retired for about 4 years now. She is very dear to me. We meet for lunch from time to time.
Here is my dilemma:
When I retire in a few months, I would like some time to decompress. Smell the roses. Just be. I have many, many plans for the future. I'm just not ready to go at it gung ho. I have a tendency to ease into things.
I have an idea where I'd like to volunteer as well.
All in due time.
Today she emailed me that she has all these plans for us. She asks me at least weekly when my last day at work will be.
She is married and says she's never really had a friend to hang around with. She comes from a 1950's mentally where her hubby calls all of the shots - even what movie they're going to see. I think that's fine - for them (I could never live like that). They are both still very much in love and she's happy. So, who am I to judge?
My concern is that she'll be at my door a few times a week. I simply cannot have that at first.
How would you get the message over to her?
