I solved that problem about a year ago--I got rid of the beater I was driving---it was always having big $$  issues and so I decided to get rid of it. I moved to a place where I can walk to get to most places and if I need to--I take Uber. Now I realize this is hitting ride share just as hard too, but for me it is way more affordable than all the BS you go thru with a car. I hated driving anyway. and I have no medical issues about walking. Not a fix for most folks but it works for me.

The last gas hike I took a Metro bus to work - took me a long time to get there but I did it.  This time I am retired and where I live everthing is relatively close.  I buy about 3 tanks of gas a year and I filled up two weeks ago.  Now I will just have to cut down on my shoe shopping because everything is going to get more expensive!  I live in the land of the SUV it will be interesting to see if that continues.
