Ginko Baloba is supposed to be good, but to quote a friend of mine - You have to remember to take it.

@151949. LOL, that is sooooo true. Ginko is wonderful, but people who have certain disorders or take certain meds cannot use it. Good to ask a doc. When I have used it, i notice a clarity. Nothing drastic, but I do notice it. It comes in some energy drinks . But I think it can cause thinner blood or bleeding in some doses, and when taken everydy.
they also have proven that mental exercise is a must for brain funtion and memory. Learn something new everyday. Do a new math problem everyday.

I take GB daily.
I also do a memory brain game daily (the earlier the better!).
And I just started writing my grocery store lists and such with my *other* hand.

1. Learn something new every day.
2. Read and write.
3. Stay active.
4. Eat food as if it were medicine. Maintain a healthy, colorful diet.
5. Consider a multivitamin, fish oil and probiotics.
6. Reduce stress.

My husband was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment. He's under the care of a specialist who prescribed specific meds that can slow the likely progression toward dementia. He told us to forget those supplements. Research has shown them to be totally ineffective, not just for him but for anyone else.

I totally agree with you @Vivian, about supplements.
I recently saw on the news that Prevegen is being sued because they can't back-up their claims that it works at all.
In essence, it's about as effective as a placebo (sugar pill).
