My iPhone 6 is about 3.5 years old. It is in perfect condition & I plan to keep it as long as possible. 

I use it more for other things (like this post) than for calls or texting. It replaces a lot of other things and is an important tool in my life but I’m not attached to it 24/7. It is in my purse when I am at work and stays home when I go walking. At home it is generally within reach but not in my hands constantly.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 phone that's about 1 1/2 years old. I use my phone for everything. Surfing the net, texting, photos, emails, shopping, etc. I love it!

The smart phones don't last much more than 2 years.  Verizon used to have the "new every 2" program, so you got a new phone for free with your 2 year plan.  Now you buy your own phone or finance it through Verizon so there is no requirement to upgrade every 2 years.  However, some apps stop working correctly, the battery starts to fail.  I hung onto my last one a few months too long.  It would die every once in a while and I had trouble re-starting it.  I was at a work event where I needed my phone for people to contact me to meet up and it died at a critical time and I couldn't re-start it.  I bought a new one that day.

If you don't need a smart phone, there's no reason to get one.  My neighbor has a flip phone and she can text on it.  We are the same age.  She only got a cell phone because she is taking care of her aging mother and she needs to be available by phone at all times.

I think mine is going on 2 years maybe.Think I got it from the Q as a TSV tracfone. It's the Samsung galaxy prime. Has been pretty good but think I will be shopping for a new one soon.

my cell phone is 3 weeks old.

I did not like anyway that fancy phone dh got me 3 yrs ago. took forever to boot up, texting which I do not do. I finally told dh to get me my simple flip phone. he did and am very happy. only 1 step to turn on, dial number and close down. love it.  the simplier is the best for me.

Have a flip Jitterbug for Seniors.  I text, play games, take photos,  wellness cec a5 sa  with  GPS traciking .  Does  everything as with a smart phone, just slower.  Jitterbug  also has a smarttphone with the intenet.  I pay 34 a month for  250 minutes and 300 text..More than I need.

Mine is about 4 years old and it's a flip phone.  I am not paying big $$$ for a phone I hardly use.  I have it mainly for an emergency.

My first smart phone was an iphone 3.  Loved that phone.  Would still be using it except they stopped updating it.  Now have an iphone 5S.   Will have it as long as I can still use it.  Am very happy with it, but am sure it won't be long before I will be forced to upgrade.
