One more for the camp of  never have, not planning to.

The people I know in RL all look much better in person than in the photos they take of themselves. I always marvel that their egos win out over their vanity when they post selfies on social that make them look 10 years older, 30 pound fatter, and with bad skin on top of it, which they don't have in RL. I have to run to YouTube and watch kitten videos just to blot it all out.

I think it's great that they can have fun and share that joy without obsessing about how old, fat, or pimply they might look. What a refreshing change! Woman Very Happy

Who said anything about "fun" or "joy"? I didn't. That's not what those photos were about.

Besides, if you saw them and knew the women, you'd understand my point. They make themselves look awful, and it's just because they won't learn how to take good photos. I guess they figure since everyone else is uploading atrocious garbage, it's okay. I think it's sad. There's nothing "refreshing" about being a lemming; quite the opposite.

I would never understand any of the points you make.

LOL, I'm well aware of the power of belief bias.

I'm not a red hatter. I believe in true beauty. I believe aesthetics are important. I think ugliness, unless it's so brilliant it's art, hurts. These women are contributing ugly to the world. Worse, they're making themselves appear ugly when they're not. They disrespect themselves for the sake of joining in, being part of a fake group. That's nothing any self-respecting woman should do, endorse, support, or try to mask.

I never have, never will. People are so self-absorbed these days, it is sad. Many are too busy taking selfies at events, they miss what they paid money to see.    JMHO.

Nope...no selfies for me.  After all, that would ruin the image I have of myself...that I am, and always will be, 30 years old!!! (I am in my mind, anyway!)

[ Edited ]

I take selfies with filters via snap chat all during the week to send my kids and grandkids "funny" snaps. They do the same and send them to me. We love snapchat. (If you dont know snap chat puts funny filters over your face). I love snap chat and instagram way more than faceook. But I limit snap to my kids and grandkids. Instagram I have family and friends on. But on instagram I dont post myself unless DH and I take a pic together. I mostly post other kinds of pics on instagram. PS My husband hates selfies. lol. especially snap chat. So I only take selfie pics of us 2 on special occassions, holidays, and such.

Re: How often do you take selfies?

I have never taken a selfie.  I find the camera angles to be most unflattering.
