Re: How much space do you need

Good topic. I too cannot stand when someone stands too close to me in line and also don't like when someone has to walk too close behind me.   I need my space and air.

Re: How much space do you need

I think there's another aspect to it.  I don't mind crowds but if someone is standing really close to me or walking closely behind me, it's creepy.

I wonder if they're up to no good, like eyeing my handbag or something.

It's something all women should be aware of, imo.

Closeness of crowds or people in general standing close to me does not bother me at all. But I stand 2 people back when waiting in any lines.out of courtesy.

The only closeness that bothers me is MRI machines and elevators. I take the stairs (even with my bad back) rather than get in an elevator! (unless its 5 flights or more up, then I take the elevator! lol). I HATE MRI machines and I go in them every 2 or 3 years to check my spine, Ive gotten better at it though I no longer take an xanax to go in them!

Shorty2U...When I was younger MRI's didn't bother me but for the past 5 years it is no MRI please I get claustrophobic.  Here in AZ we have an open MRI in Phoenix.  You actually sit on a chair and the machine goes up and down.  I haven't had the experience yet but for me that is the way to go.

This is one reason I don't like elevators.

Re: How much space do you need

I don't really have a minimum space requirement. It just depends on the situation.

Due to asthma I can't be close to people wearing strong perfumes. When I taught very little children I had no personal space. At that age most kids have no concept of personal space. If I am in a crowded elevator I will not freak out if I am shoulder to shoulder with a stranger. If someone gets too close to me, I take a step or two backwards if I can.
