My family is Apple all the way. Microsoft has made life miserable for their customers......... We wouldn't go back to that.

That stupid 'Microsoft account' deal is beyond ridiculous. I got looped into that when I purchased my first Win8.1 computer. It expected (or so I thought at the time) you do register for a MS account to log into your computer.
I did this idiotic thing and in no time flat it wouldn't accept my password. I got in to change the pw and it just went on and on and on, to the extent that I was never able to log into it again. Fortunately, the computer allowed me to sign in to my computer just using my own pw but I was never able to delete the ms account thing from my computer, so it shows my (old) email address as my 'ID' there.
I tried writing them for help and got absolutely nowhere. I gave up on that. I did delete the MS account, in and of itself, but not on the computer so I was never again able to get into certain areas to change things regarding my ID and such. Computer is still fine, fortunately.
When I got the next computer with Win8.1 it expected me to do the same thing and I found that if I just entered through that it left me alone. Whew!

I have used Microsoft products at work and at home for years and I have never had a problem. One thing is though, I have never relied on Microsoft's internal firewall and always get a stand alone to use. Otherwise, no problems for me.
I thought about Mac, but at my age, I don't know if I want to learn a new system. Can you explain how you think Microsoft has been miserable for their customers? Please don't include me, as it doesn't apply.
Thanks.

You didn't need to do that to log on to your computer. You turn on your computer and go. I happen to have my log on screen available to me because of a relative who comes to my home and likes to use the computer. He can't just turn it on when he visits and would need my password. Otherwise, I don't need it.

Um, I do know that now.
As I went on to say, when I got the next one I tried entering through all that and it was fine. It never did ask me to get a MS account again on this one, so I'm glad for that.
But one of the things the 'MS account' thing did was to set up a logon through that account. That is what I was never able to get rid of, but there is also an option to use my own PIN to log into that computer.
Live and learn, eh? ![]()

Yes, we live and learn. At least that's what I want to do.....![]()
I usually let my son deal with the more detailed stuff surrdounding my computer. I'm always afraid I'll break something.
