I prefer the human voice in communication: there's so much more to what a person is actually verbalizing than in what the typed word conveys. As a former manager, career counsellor, and adjunct college professor (leadership and group communication), the spoken word can accentuate or deny what the person is saying. The hesitancy in word choice, the too quick delivery of a sentence, or the heaviness of the breathing all are significant clues as to the message that is not being verbalized. It helps me help the speaker. So if I can't speak person to person, texting will have to suffice!
We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.
