I am shocked that so many women are not sentimentally attached to their original wedding set. If I lost mine or it was stolen I think it would break my heart.
I actually own a much larger wedding set that my grandfather made for me (he was a jewelry designer for a large jewelry store in Pitts). He made my grandmother a beautiful set for their 50th anni. and since she had passed away when I got married he made me a Tiffiany bridge ring from the stones he had used in grandmas anni ring. However, it is so large and completely not me at all, that since my grandfather died it has been kept in my safety dep box. I suppose some day I will pass it on to his eldest great grand daughter, but now I honestly keep it because I know its value and it makes me feel secure.

At every Joan Rivers show I've attended, she would pick out a few women sitting up front and ask to see their rings. If the diamond was small, she'd shake her head and say, "Sorry, first wife." If it was big, she was a second wife. She was always right, except if it was a third wife.
I sure do miss that lady.

I miss her too, Sunny. I keep expecting to "see" her on Fashion Police or at QVC.....

I still have my original engagement ring that was given to me 47-48 yrs ago. the diamond is only 1/3 carat but beautiful to me. the wedding ring did fracture and can't be repaired, so dh bought me a plain silver wedding band, and I wear that all the time. dh and I went to our minister at church and we did a small ceremony before church service and we exchanged our bands once again.
