How long is the "New Year"?

Today, I was in a crowed public place and twice I heard someone wish someone else a "Happy New Year". Today is the 14th and in my opinion "New Year" is over with and we are well underway in the year. What is your opinion? Is it still ok to say "Happy New Year"?

Well, I've got to go to a Christmas party at our niece's house on Saturday. Her artificial tree will be up. For me, saying HNY is appropriate for all of January.

I agree it's fine, especially among friends you don't see often.

The Lunar New Year isn't until January 29th.

I'm fine with wishing happy something to anyone at anytime.

Every time I see someone for the first time since Jan 1, I wish them a happy new year. I'll do that for another week or so but not past the end of Jan.

i said it today to someone i had not seen since december.

after january, i will probably stop saying it.

so yes, i say it is still okay.
