How long does a check book last for you?

I just wrote the last check in my book; that book has lasted exactly ten years.

I hate writing checks. I don't hate paying bills, but would rather do it online. I'd much rather use plastic cards than write checks.

I'm down to my last check in one account & this order of 120 lasted 3 years. I only use checks to pay one monthly bill now & that's it. I don't have a debit card on this account, either.

I don't do online because I have no trust. I don't use cards for the same reason. I still write checks. My DD and my best friend do the exact opposite. They do everything online and when problems arise, they call me to help them out. LOL How long they last? Depends on them mostly. I try to write 4 or 5 a month and I'm good. Smile

My theory has always been ""the banks got money and I've got checks.""

I pay all my bills except four by check. I probably write 8-10 a month. I know checks will one day be phased out, or they will cost you much more to use. At that point I will switch to what is offered.

I tried online payment and the dept. store made a royal mess of it, which took weeks to straighten out. I use checks, too, and have read it's safer than using a credit card.

Re: How long does a check book last for you?

i think that the last time i ordered personal checks i ordered 200......that was probably about 3 years ago and i have around 140 left. those will last me for quite a while i am sure. i mainly use checks for payments to doctors/dentists and sometimes for gifts.

business checks are different. i order 900 at a time and they seem to last about 9 months or a bit less.
