Yes, check out that fridge every couple of days, and toss out whatever is sitting there. Also, don't forget to check out the cheese, too. Even the sliced/individually wrapped slices, too. In between the slices in the package. I found small green mold dots on newly purchased sliced cheese, and returned/exchanged it. Good expiration date, too. Sometimes it's been sitting in wrong places unrefrigerated or in severely changing temperatures, by mistake....

I rarely throw out food and so we always eat left overs...I will keep 1 week and if I don't think we will eat it that soon, it gets frozen right away.

48 hours.

Anything that's left over at dinner, my husband will eat the next day. As for spaghetti, I have been known to sneak out in the middle of the night and eat cold spaghetti and then deny it. There really are no leftovers here. I clean out the fridge every single week. He says it's my OCD..... He swears I put things in there alphabetically too.....
I used to know someone who saved every single pea and carrot, etc., from everyone's plate and put it in foil. She had tons of little packs of foil in her fridge all the time. I think she saved it all and when she thought there was enough, she probably made a pot pie or something. She is the reason I never save things... I love a roomy fridge... I can see everything that's in there.

Depends on what it is. Veg is 7 days tops. Same with rice, potatoes or pasta.
Meats and fish...3 days.
Waffles or pancakes...7 days, but I freeze the waffles after 3 days if it doesn't look like we'll finish them.
I usually try to eat leftovers by the 2nd night, but if that doesn't work, then the above guidelines have always worked for me.

Well he survived the spaghetts so maybe it was a week old or maybe food keeps longer than we think since hes done this before and not gotten sick?
Thanks for the replies and feedback!
PS) As someone above said I too have been known to sneak into the kitchen and eat cold spaghetti! lol.
Have a great weekend!
