How important is Tradition

Route7's thread prompts me to ask...Does your family thrive on your holiday (or even weekly) traditions or can you enjoy a holiday meal without the typical menu and festivities? For me, holidays are really flat without our traditions--foods, family, hustle-n-bustle, decor....

Years ago we were out of state on a Thanksgiving, so we went to a restaurant and surprisingly, they had run out of turkey dinners (!) so had to order normal fare. Sooo not the same and pretty disappointing. Didn't know how set in my was I was!

So, how important are traditional holiday festivities to you?!
