Do you take any special precautions these days? When I go out to the mailbox I wear rubber gloves that I wipe off with a bleach solution.  I leave the mail in the garage a few days before I bring it in.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said during a CNN coronavirus town hall that if the disease were to transfer onto something like mail, it would likely be a low concentration.

@MoJoV   After seeing an epidemiologist on the news suggest exactly what you are doing -- I have been doing the same thing.   Packages too.  The way I see it -- it is no big deal -- and why not do whatever possible to try to stay safe.

I throw caution to the wind and handle mail with my bare hands.

  I bring in the mail.Open it, then I wash my hands. I can't be paranoid about every move I make.

Re: How do you handle mail now?

Only change recently (today!) our package service office closed (non-essential) and now all my deliveries will come directly to my apartment.  It was a circus getting everthing re-directed from service to here.

I live in a high-rise - all our mailboxes are down in the lobby.  I'll continue taking it out of the box, sifting through it and throw the junk mail in the recepticle and bring the rest up to my apartment.

I'm not planning on doing anything different.

Do any of you put prepaid return packages   - e.g. Q returns - in mailbox to be picked up?  I noticed my neighbor doing this raising her red flag for pick up.   We have never done this with packages.

I think she means that once she is in physical possession of the junk mail, she, herself, physically removes the address herself, by tearing, or cutting it off.

Not that she wrote to, or spoke to someone to have the junk mail stopping from arriving at her home in the first place.

But I could be wrong about that.

@dulwich

You can go to the USPS website to schedule a pickup, you enter your zip code to see if the free service is available in your area.... and you pick a date and schedule it . Its free as long as you are using QVC's return label and schedule it to be picked up during regular postal service hours.... You can also specify where you will leave the package....I think there is a 13 lb limit....
