How do you celebrate St. Paddy's Day?

Do you cook a special meal?

Go to your favorite pub?

Watch a parade?

Wear green?

Love St. Paddy's Day!!!!

Play my Karan Casey and Solas music(singing along in accent as best I can!), watch step dancing, drink beer and eat corned beef and cabbage lol.

My dad's family were from Ireland.

Corned beef and cabbage; I love boiled cabbage. DH hates it.

Re: How do you celebrate St. Paddy's Day?

When my dad was alive he and I would have a "date" on St Pattys day. When i was little we wentto the parade and then for ice cream or something special like that. But only us two - never my Mom - this was our date (and she wasn't irish). Sometimes one of my dad's brothers would go with us, though. Then when i was older daddy and i would get dressed up and he would take me to dinner , just us two. usually at the Officer's club at the air base - they would usually have dancing for St Pat's and usually my Mom would meet us there because my parents loved to dance. Since my dad and all my irish uncles are now gone I no longer celebrate St patrick's day - it usually maks me pretty sad, actually.

Growing up my mother always made corn beef and cabbage. It was my father's favorite. Can't say that I cared for it. I don't do anything special on the day.

My dad was Irish - he actually was concieved in Ireland and born in the US. He was from the south very near the northern border, county Donnegal. My italian Mom always said he was as Irish as Patty's pig. However, just to show that people should not generalize or make assumptions - my dad was a total teatotler. he never drank. He would buy a case of beer at Christmas for company but he never drank any alcohol beverage. I visited Ireland when i was living in Englandin 1979, and got to meet some family there. They decided to forgive me for marrying an Englishman since I was American and did not know any better.

i used to work with a guy who first asked his wife out because he was impressed that she was willing to drink discounted green beer a few days after St Patt's Day.
