Re: How did you come up with your screen name ?

Shanus is what my entire family called me since I was little. In Hebrew I think it means some form of pretty or cute. I’m sure they misspelled it or mispronounced it, but it stuck as is.

@NicksmomESQ  When I began posting on the boards, one of my first thread about nics. Someone explained then that, like you did, that my family made up their own spelling, but I’m assuming that’s what they meant. My grandparents called me their “shaina maidela”.....

I love all things cotton – clothing, bedding, etc.  When I was trying to come up with a screen name, I thought about cotton but didn’t know what else to put with it, so I came up with cottonball.  I’m not crazy about it and think about changing it from time to time.

On another note – one of my favorite songs was/is, Cotton Fields by the Highwaymen.  I loved folk music growing up.  It’s still my favorite.

@cotton4me  I love that song too!  In fact, I was recently at a folksinging  sing-a-long and we sang that song!  It was written by Huddie Ledbetter, better known as Ledbelly.

My father was a route man for Tasty Kake.  One of their offerings that I loved was Krimpets.  Since Krimpet was not available, I enhanced it a bit.

@Krimpette  Your name is the more feminine version of Krimpet.  Smiley Happy

It’s what my husband used to call me.  He always referred to himself as “The Old Geezer”.   Hence, I was his “geezerette”.

My screen name is easy to figure out! I live on the East Coast ... Well, more inland but I just liked the name when I thought of it!

I used to be "LoveMyHandbags". I was gone from here for a while and when I came back I couldn't get my same name back or anything close to it...so once I thought of this I liked it!

I named my previous lhasaTikvah (Hebrew for HOPE - there is a Jewish Temple in Woodland Hills called Kol Tikvah --- and I found out later that the National Anthem in Israel is called Tikvah. 10 yrs ago I got my 2nd lhasa and I named her Kivah (Hebrew meaning "to protect and shelter." She protects me and I shelter her. I'm Jewish and I love these names.

I loved reading how you came about naming your darling Lhasa, I had a Bijon Frise, cutest little thing ever.  Are you a CA girl?  I lived there for 40 years, Northridge, Chatsworth and Encino and because one of the jobs I had was in WH I am very familiar with it.  From now on when I see your posts your story will come to  mind.  One of my dearest friends was Jewish and I learned a lot about the religion, fascinating.
