5.76
About the same price we paid around 2006 or 2008, I forget. But one of thosehears it spiked everyday til it hung around 6 bux. Then a month or two later it started going down. The least we have paid in the 18 years is about 2.89 at one point. It hung around 3.25 for a longtime until covid crept up to 4.25 until this mess.

Costco was $3.56 last week when DH filled his tank, He will be filling mine tomorrow and it is $3.89 now...but cheaper than other places. Prices of gas and also groceries are rising quickly, and not by a penny or two....rising by a lot every few days. I still am having sticker shock when I buy groceries. I have actually put a couple of things back on the shelf when I saw how much the price had gone up.

It is not simple to do away with your car if it is your only means of transportation and buy an electric vehicle or take public transportation. Neither are available in many places in the country.

I think Uber is considering a fuel surcharge now.

Uber is adding a surcharge on fares and deliveries in response
to surging gas prices, the company said on Friday.
Uber Technologies Inc said on Friday US customers, excluding New York City, will have to pay a fuel surcharge starting March 16 as the ride-hailing firm tries to address concerns of drivers and couriers hit by record-high gasoline prices.
Customers will have to pay a surcharge fee of either 45 cents or 55 cents on each Uber trip and 35 cents or 45 cents on each Uber Eats order, depending on their location.
The company said that the fees will go to drivers, who are responsible for paying for gas they use.
The move comes as many Uber drivers have been protesting on social media over high gas costs that have been eating into their earnings even as the company raised its profitability outlook, with some asking if it was still worth getting behind the wheel.

I wonder why New York City is excluded.
