Re: How Do You Make Iced Tea?

I boil water in an eight quart pot. Add 14 tea bags, let steep a while.
Then add sugar and lemon juice to taste, fill with water, pour into pitchers.

Been doing this way for 55 years and everyone loves my iced tea.

I do this sometimes twice a week according to how much we drink..

That's how we roll in the shire..

Re: How Do You Make Iced Tea?

We do part ice tea and part lemonade. I love fresh ice tea (make it the way Surferwife wrote) but have found that people prefer the combo. Family in Philly have made it this way since....the 70's I believe.

I guess we like stronger iced tea around here. We use two tea bags for every cup. The ice dilutes it so much. Of course, we add simple syrup and sometimes add a little lemon or orange juice. The most important item...the juice of bruised fresh mint leaves that have steeped in boiling water also. Delicious and refreshing!

Re: How Do You Make Iced Tea?

@nana59. I put loose tea in one of those closed metal tea strainers w/ a chain. I lower it into a pitcher of hot water, cover w/ paper towel and let it steep for about an hour.

Here in the South, "sweet tea" is served a lot. Just dissolve a few tablespoons of sugar to boiling water in measuring cup & add it to the pitcher.

I haven't made iced tea in a long time, but when I did I thought Luzianne was the best.  I didn't add sugar, but let everyone add their own sweetener to their glass of tea.

I agree, Luzianne is the best. I get the decaf green tea.  So much better than black.

I always have a pitcher made. Boil water, drop in the bags and pour over ice when ready. Usually add a few drops of stevia. It's so refreshing.

Re: How Do You Make Iced Tea?

I add a large tea bag to a quart of boiling water, then immediately remove from the heat. Let steep for 3 to 5 minutes. I prefer 3 minutes, I think that's the perfect amount of time. Long steeping time makes for bitter tea IMO. Add ice or pour over ice.

We also buy Luzianne brand.

Re: How Do You Make Iced Tea?

I do it the easy way/

1.  Put tea bag in big glass

2.  Fill glass 3/4 fill with cold water

3.  Add one Sweet & Low

4.  Add enough ice to fill the glass

5.  Let sit a couple of minutes then stir and put the straw in the glass

6. Drink

Or ... make a batch of Lipton instant ice tea.
