Go for it, LB! I had never heard of Bruno Mars before the halftime show, but when I saw that dancing, it sure brought back great memories of The Godfather of Soul!

Bruno Mars is one of the better singers/performers in recent years. If anyone watched The Sixties: The British Invasion on CNN this past weekend, they had a clip of a young James Brown with pompadour. Bruno did almost the exact moves at halftime -- fancy footwork into a split. Excellent!

Bruno Mars and his band reminded me of Eddie Murphy doing James Brown in the hot tub on SNL. I liked him but the Red Hot Chili Peppers did nothing for this old lady. Kelly Ripa just mentioned they frequently perform sans pants with a sock. Is that really true?

He's very much both. He is a very talented man (how old is he anyway?) and puts on a heck of a show. One of the best halftime shows ever. Does anyone else think he looks a little like Michael Jackson? i.e., a young,, healthy Michael Jackson?

I don't know how frequently they did it, but yes it is true. Back in their day, they performed wearing tube socks over their junk, and nothing else. Good times.

Bruno Mars was fab and the should have left him alone.

RHCP looked like they hadn't bathed since the last SuperBowl. I don't want to see them fully clothed let alone bare chested. They were gross and there was no point in them being there.

Tell us how you really feel. I agree, I thought Bruno and his band could have performed the entire show and it would have been more entertaining. Thought it was a strange pairing to add the RHCP, but there are also many fans of the RHCP that enjoyed them and would disagree with you. I'm just glad they weren't the majority of the show and the Bruno finished it up.

I said this on FB last night.....he's a true entertainer and reminded me so much of James Brown.

I doubt they would have been allowed to show up for halftime with just their trademark socks. They were probably told that right off the bat.

Like Jules, I thought this was an odd pairing.
