I am only in my 50's but I have two friends that are considered baby boomers that quit their jobs last year. It had nothing to do with the stock market, they were just both married woman who had terrible bosses, and were in the financial position to basically say take this job and shove it.

 

One of my GF's her husband had quit/retired earlier in the year, and the second one her husband is still working. He enjoys it and has no plans on ever retiring.  He is younger then her so I think he might change his mind in a few years.
