An inmate who escaped from Blackburn Correctional Complex Sunday night turned himself in after being out in the cold all night Sunday and all day Monday.
Robert Vick, 42, walked away from the minimum-security prison and was confirmed missing at 8:35 p.m.
At about 4 p.m. Monday, Vick walked into the Sunset Motel on Georgetown Road and "asked the clerk to call the police," said Lt. Eric Lowe of the Lexington police.
Lowe said an ambulance was called to check Vick out, and after he was determined to be fine, he was turned over to the Kentucky State Police and returned to Blackburn.
Lisa Lamb, spokeswoman for the state Corrections Department, said Vick would have been wearing only his prison-issued khaki pants, shirt and jacket when he escaped.
Vick was serving a six-year sentence for convictions out of Boyd County, including burglary and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
He would have been eligible for parole in March.
Too cold for an inmate in Lexington KY. Should have kept an eye on the weather forecast.
