@Biftu A plant is always an appropriate housewarming gift. If you want to give them somthing with symbolism, consider a Money Tree. The Money Tree's intertwining, braided trunk, and flat, palm-like leaves have made it a symbol of financial prosperity in feng shui. Five leaves on each stem represent the five balance elements, while the braided trunk symbolizes "locked in" fortune.

@Biftu - Here's my two cents. Just because they moved into a million dollar home and downsized, it doesn't mean they - or she in particular - don't want to have nice decorations.
I would go with the lantern idea. I think a pretty lantern - and QVC has some nice ones - tied with a pretty ribbon would be warm and welcoming. Speaking of welcoming, you could also think about a pretty pineapple, the symbol of welcome and hospitality
I'm sure whatever you decide, your friend's cousin will appreciate the gift! ![]()

$1.5 million dollars is not an impressive amount of money in my area, California.
I think a nice plant is a great idea.

I googled and found The Seven Chakra Crystal Tree. It's meant to bring good luck.

These are lovely and I ordered two yesterday after reading your post.
I'm keeping one and giving one to a neighbor who has fabulous taste, she loves beautiful candy dishes filled with vacrious candies, I'm giving her the red one and keeping the blush/pink one for myself.
Thank y,ou for posting .
I just now ordered the blue and purple.

The money tree is officially listed as non-toxic to pets by the ASPCA.
It is good though to know if the recipient would rather not have a plant that might get eaten (toxic or not) by a pet.![]()

Oh wonderful! Thank you for letting me know that!
I'm glad someone got some benefit from my post especially since my idea was poopoo'ed by some. haha
I think the recipient of your gift, whether rich or poor, will be thrilled. I would love to receive it!....and I may receive it from myself when I too buy the pink one! haha
Enjoy! And if you think about it let me know how you like them when you get them in......
