Whatever you decide, @Biftu , I'd strongly encourage you to make it something consumable.  They'll appreciate your gesture, enjoy the gift, and be done with it, left with the knowledge that you thought of them rather than saddling them with an obligation to display and store something they might not like or want.

If you actually know for sure that they drink alcohol, a nice bottle of wine maybe 🤷‍♀️

Good idea, but they don't drink.

My experience has been that the wealthy don't bother with gift certificates, not to say that's true in all cases.  My friends with money have given me gift cards they received.  Lucky me, I use them!

Re: Housewarming Gift

[ Edited ]

If they are buying a million dollar house, I wouldn't buy them anything.  If you are attending a house warming party, bring a small hostess gift.  If you aren't going to a party, mail them a greeting card.

Honestly, I'd ask if it were you and you didn't need anything what would you want. I think considering their circumstances that a gift card would absolutely be fine. Do they have a specific ethnic grocery that they shop at that gives gift certificates?  CArd to a vegan bakery or restaurant that they might like?

If you're really against a gift card then I'd just send a regular card and maybe flowers since that won't stick them with something they don't want.

Of course it's the thought that counts. You don't have to spend more. A $1.5 million dollar home is an average home price in some parts of the country. Not a huge, movie star mansion. Follow you heart.

@ahoymate  You are right.  Actually they are downsizing with this new house.  Their current house sold for $2.4 million.
