This may be trivial but it bugs me like crazy.
I do not have the best English but I have a problem with the hosts speaking problems. I would think that when any TV station/News program hires a person they would know how to speak properly. I hear so many hosts speak improperly as in "these ones", "off of", and so forth. There are many things I find incorrect and I do understand everyone has their own way of speaking, it is just driving me nuts.
I don't know why I'm upset about something so trivial, I guess I'm just having a bad New Year.

@luvmybeetle. What do you think we should do about it?

I don't think we should do anything about it, I'm just venting my opinion.

@luvmybeetle I do hope your year gets better! All the best and summer is here so maybe that will help! I wish you a happy spring and a beautiful sunny summer!
As far as language, that changes and not much we can do accept that is it a growing and evolving part of human change and movement and interaction. I think we would have a hard time understanding someone speaking Old English. I have heard it read and the differences are amazing.
Some of the people I grew up with are speaking a language all its own to parts of Texas and Oklahoma.

I think the Hosts should have to take courses in correct English!
Secretaries have to know how to write a letter correctly....Hosts should have to know how to speak correctly!JMHO

Even closed captioning has a hard time with it.

Thank you. I was a secretary and went to school for word processing, and was an English major. I guess that is my reasoning. People in public speaking should know how to speak correctly.

Just curious, what's the issue with "off of"? As in "the vet took my cat off of her medication ". I feel like I'm missing something

@luvmybeetle I agree that hosts should use grammmatically correct Standard English -- as do news casters and other public speakers. Regional and casual speech is best used in regional and casual environments.

@Zhills. They are presumably all college grads many having majored in communications. If all of that won't do it, I don't know what will.
I agree with @luvmybeetle , I hear some things that are cringe-worthy.
