They may have some volunteers but everyone we met or talked to was a doctor or nurse.

Hospice usually "follows" survivors for a year after the patient passes. The requests for more $$ after your generous donation aren't surprising. As others have said, contribute to one and you'll get requests from many more. A friend told me that many years ago and I have found it true. Your name gets passed around like a cheap and easy date.

That happened to us when we made a donation when a friend died. It made me feel like our entire donation went for mailing requests.

The hospice is a great organization though.

Around here it is a combination of volunteers and professionals. The nurses and sometimes the clergy are paid but the volunteers are the ones who will provide respite care etc. Also sometimes hospice uses a facility.

Not in my community! It's a non-profit. There's a difference.
