What is your "go to" song or words of inspiration during these dark times?

Here is mine:

The Rising.”   Bruce Springsteen.

When I'm down, it lifts me up.   Gives me hope for better days ahead.

God bless.   🙏

#1. Coming Out Of The Dark by Gloria Estefan is my all-time go-to, that helped me through a very dark chapter in my life, and ALWAYS inspires me.🙏 I've been humming it much  more lately than usual.😊

#2. Don't Worry Be Happy, by Bobby McFerrin is my go-to when I feel a little down. Simple song, simple words, POWERFUL message!👍

#3. Happy, by Pharell is a song I listen to EVERY morning to help jumpstart my day.😊

I have been blessed with close long term friendships.  Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkel lifts me up in times of need and support as do my friends.

"You've Got a Friend" by James Taylor. Carole King also recorded it.

"Your Song" by Elton John. I find this song very uplifting.

I accidentally posted this on the We are the World thread. Oh well. Deleted it there.

Three Little Birds by Bob Marley always cheers me up. And the song is simple enough that I can easily sing along really loudly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaGUr6wzyT8

"Rise up this mornin'
Smiled with the risin' sun
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true
Saying', (this is my message to you)

Singing' don't worry 'bout a thing
'Cause every little thing gonna be alright
Singing' don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing
'Cause every little thing gonna be alright"

Repeat

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen is good too. It was originally written about 9 11. This version in this link is from 2011, so it has no political aspect to it.

"Can't see nothing in front of me
Can't see nothing coming up behind
I make my way through this darkness
I can't feel nothing but this chain that binds me
Lost track of how far I've gone
How far I've gone, how high I've climbed
On my back's a sixty pound stone
On my shoulder half mile of line

Come on up for the rising
Come on up lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Left the house this morning
Bells ringing filled the air
I was wearing the cross of my calling
On wheels of fire I come rolling down here

Come on up for the rising
Come on up lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li, li li li li

There's spirits above and behind me
Faces gone black, eyes burning bright
May their precious blood bind me
Lord as I stand before your fiery light

Li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li, li li li li

I see you Mary in the garden
In the garden of a thousand sighs
There's holy pictures of our children
Dancing in a sky filled with light
May I feel your arms around me
May I feel your blood mix with mine (ooh ooh ooh)
A dream of life comes to me
Like a catfish dancing on the end of my line (ooh ooh ooh)

Sky of blackness and sorrow (a dream of life)
Sky of love, sky of tears (a dream of life) (ooh ooh ooh)
Sky of glory and sadness (a dream of life)
Sky of mercy, sky of fear (a dream of life) (ooh ooh ooh)
Sky of memory and shadow (a dream of life)
Your burning wind fills my arms tonight (ooh ooh ooh)
Sky of longing and emptiness (a dream of life)
Sky of fullness, sky of blessed life

Come on up for the rising
Come on up lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li li, li li li li li
Li li, li li, li li li li
Li li, li li li li li (come on up for the rising)
Li li, li li li, li li li li li (come on up)
Li li, li li li, li li li li li (come on up for the rising)
Li li, li li, li li li li (come on up)"

3 songs that cheer me up:

"I Can See Clearly Now" the theme from "Cool Runnings"

and

"I Just Called To Say I Love You". A Stevie Wonder favorite. Sometimes when visiting my DS and DIL when my grands were little, this song would come on the radio and I'd sing it to them! They just giggled!

"Wonderful World" by Ray Charles
