Home security systems

For those who have home security systems can you tell me how much is installation and how much is it a month and whats included? (such as it just for breakins, or fires etc too in your plan?) More importantly- can cats and or dogs jumping at windows or walking around at night set things off?..lol.. (Ive always wondered about this). Or does it take a broken window, door etc to set it off? We live in a pretty safe neighborhood, and so does my daughters family, but her husband travels for his job, and so theyre thinking of getting one more than us. (She has a little dog, we have cats, this is why I ask about pets affecting systems). Thanks.
