Re: Holy Cow, What A Price Change

My house is heated with gas, and our bills are also up substantially at this time.

in our state, GAS (especially the "delivery charges") bills are crazy. last months BGE bill was practically a mortgage payment! energy costs are a HUGE issue in maryland.

@sunshine45 the delivery charge for our natural gas is 3 to 4 times higher than the actual gas used.

I'm in California and my last months PGE was 700. Then comes summer, heat lowers nd cooling goes up. Can't win.

Wow!!  That is a lot.  We grew up in the SF Bay Area and can relate to PG & E.

Maybe they're trying to make up for the insurance claims for various issues in CA like the wildfires?

@rockygems123  I think they are collecting for  when Paradise burnt down a few years ago.  They had bad lines and were sued

Re: Holy Cow, What A Price Change

I have gas for heat but years ago we rented an old farm house and had fuel brought in.  I thought that was awful expensive back then and when it got super cold and snow piled high the guy could barely get to the tank to fill.

I pay my gas and electric bill on what they call a budget plan.  You pay the same price almost all year long but they do review the usage and can adjust it up or down and usually every 6 months.  My gas bill has remained the same for next 6 months at 52.00.

I have used the budget plans for years and easier for me to budget my expenses.  I would rather not have a surprise big bill  in the middle of winter.

@Linda0215   The fuel truck just left.  $752.00 for 210 gallons.  They were here Jan. 13th..........less than a month ago.

Our budget plan resets in June.  I am dreading what the new amount will be.

Hopefully next winter will not be a repeat of this.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Ugh, that's not quite double what our budget plan is.  I can't wait for this winter to be done!

Re: Holy Cow, What A Price Change

We just had two weeks of ice and single digits..our gas furnace never stopped going...but the big jump in price was the water bill...we had to stream, not drip, 9 faucets/ showers/tubs for 15 days and it was $90 more than this time, last year. They just jacked up our sanitation fees so that made it even more. Have never paid a water bill that was over $200,

Re: Holy Cow, What A Price Change

why all the faucets?  I live in NE Pennyslvania..we are told the furtherest faucet to let run..like the width of a pencil all day and  night..yes even when HOME.  Neighbors are freezing all around me..I am on the shady side of the street also..Never froze till last March when the frost was rising from the ground.  It cost me over 400 to unfreeze my line..it was 11.5ft into the street to the main.  Check to make sure only the furtherest faucet..I didn;t get my bill yet..I know its coming..ugh..
