No party in my hood.  I'm SO glad I'm retired now and don't have 'mandatory' party obligations. My uniform is yoga pants, jeans, t-shirts and Reeboks. Now I'll go to a bonfire, or sitting around a fire pit party, with something smoking in the pit, but my dog has to be invited, too, otherwise, NO.

There’s a few parties to attend but they’re all dressy casual. I think most of the dressy dresses and glitter are for New Year’s Eve. I have no use for them. We go out for an early dinner to a nice restaurant and then make piggies in a blanket and strombolis around 10-11:00. Then in bed by 2:00am. That’s a perfect New Years Eve, imo.

My philosophy is, if you do not have an invitation, then create your own holiday party experience!

I love wearing pretty sparkles and velvets for the holiday season, and have frequently bought one new piece each year.

I try to plan a fancy dinner for me and DH and wear one of my outfits!  Often we book a New Year's eve party experience at a local country club, and yes, everybody does get dressed up.

We always take senior family members to dinner during the holiday season and also dress in a party style.

I always prefer to be over-dressed rather than underdressed!

No parties for us thankfully.   I haven't even put any Christmas decorations out yet and may not. That seems to be little more than I can handle this year.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Many people do attend Christmas parties and some have more than one.  I don't have any to attend and rarely even go to my Christmas Dinner for work.  However, I am involved in our Community Choir and we dress for the season.  I've purchased many outfits (mostly sweaters or tops) for it and then wear the items to church duirng the month of December.

I don't go to dressy parties anymore, but I do have a few velvet items in my closet, and a sparkly shirt.  I wear them (not all at the same time!) when my family has the annual Christmas party, and when going out to lunch and dinner during the holidays.  Even if I am home alone on Christmas or New Year's Eve, I will put on one of my velvet tops.

It's fun to have a few special things for the holiday season.

Re: Holiday parties?

[ Edited ]

We have our annual work Holiday Party and we are required to "dress up" in formal attire....held at an event hall...

The other Christmas parties are all casual--: -just jeans and a PRETTY Christmas sweater or something red and green is what most folks wear to these....

A party held for us volunteers for work we do for a charity

A casual party at friend's house .....

Been there, done that.  I finally parted with most of the outfits this year.  May be a few still hidden in tubs.  LOL  However, I will be wearing the elf comfy with red legging and elf shoes for the Christmas Eve breakfast we host for family.

Imagine I won't have it on long so I also have a red and black flannel tunic to wear after everyone gets here.  Just need them to see me in all my glory first. Smiley Wink

Before my DH retired his company would have a party at a country club each year and we would wear sparkling clothing (I would wear flowy pants & sparkling top...no gown).  In the early years of living in our current community, some neighbors would have a party...jeans or dressy pants and dressy top.  Now I don't do those anymore.

However I'm getting together with girlfriends next week for our annual holiday dinner and I'll wear a nice top...maybe something with a bit of sparkle, I have to see.  I also like to look nice on Christmas.  That means a nice sweater or top and usually black knit pants.

But it is funny when you feel like you're the only one who hasn't been invited to several swanky holiday parties when in reality most don't go to any.
