Lately when I'm shopping whether in B&M or online, everyone is selling crazy amounts of clothing geared for holiday parties. Dresses, glittery things, sequins, faux fur, gold, all festive, dressy, Christmas time looking stuff. And it has me wondering who's going to all these parties? I have not one holiday party to go to. Do you? I guess I have no life, is the conclusion!

The whole "holiday dressing" is just a big marketing ploy. I do have some holiday parties to go to, but none of them are formal or even that dressy. I just wear something that's already in my closet. Sequins and glitter? Not on me. Ever. No sparkles, spangles, beading or bedazzling.

No idea who goes to all the glittery parties, but I feel as if the availability of that style has been true every year. I'm with you - I don't buy party clothes - a bit of extra jewelry will serve to make the occasion special.
I did attend a birthday party last week - saw a few glittery tops, but there were just as many of us in upscale casual. It was a cool night for southern Florida so many took the opportunity to wear the sweaters and jackets that don't feel good most of the "winter."

The couple parties I've been to so far this year were ultra casual. Jeans. Lots of red, but nothing glitzy. You just wear something you already have that is red or green. A few instances of the silly boing boing Christmas headbands and a couple "ugly" sweaters and santa hats.
No one invites me to formal holiday balls anymore, however. Okay, no one ever has...

No parties for me. A couple of lunches but that's it and I'm not complaining!!!

I've aged out of the holiday party scene, but even when I did attend more partys we didn't get that dressed up. Maybe a glittery top, but that's it.

They sell the stuff so apparently, people do go to those fancy holiday parties. Some of it is for New Years Eve. I have a full life and I do socialize during the holiday season but I don't go to parties or events that call for beads and bangles and sequins. When our friends give parties or host dinners; it's dressy casual. Our friends are hosting a holiday dinner at a local restaurant tomorrow. It will be black pants, red cashmere sweater and pearl jewelry for me. Too cold for a skirt or dress. It's house parties, cookie swaps, brunches for our group. Even the office party, which is tonight is a cocktail party from 4-6pm. No one will get dressed up.

@Grouchomarx, you most certainly do have a life. You are just being honest, a great trait to have.
