This Whispering Pines look nice have you stayed there?
I think that having Texans there is a plus. I love Texans! And I appreciate that they choose New Mexico when they want to get away. Our state depends on tourism!

Thanks!! Having lived in Texas for the last forty plus years, I do consider myself a "Texan"! And New Mexico is one of our favorite places to get away from theTexas heat!!
Thanks for the support! We live near the Petroglyph National Monument on Albuquerque's West Side (Piedras Marcadas Canyon). It's just a few blocks away and it's one of our dog's very favorite places. Every time we take him there we check out the license plates on cars in the parking lot. People come from all over the country to visit the petroglyphs. We meet visitors there who come from all over the world.
It still puzzles Better-half, who wonders why people would want to see it. Why? We've been taking the dog there for years and every time I go I see something new. And you get a spectacular view of the city and our Sandia Mountains.

@granny me Where are you in West Texas? I spent 7 years in Midland and really liked it there. If it just wasn't so hot in summer. Sigh.

Did you ever watch that TV show based on Oil drillers down in Midland?
Black Gold, think it was called. Think that town is South of me. All those men working the rigs, etc.

@SharkE Yes, I did see the program. Very realistic. It's a nasty, dirty, dangerous business. They recently announced the discovery of the largest oil deposit in the US, with Midland at its epicenter. Ought to seal their good fortunes for years to come. Lots of money there. Beautiful Homes.

I must not be far from you as I live in Lubbock.

@granny me Lubbock is about 120 miles North of Midland. Used to drive up to shop at the mall. My grandkids are there.

I'm around Amarillo where the electric rates are sky high. LOL Gas is good, but, Excel has a strangle hold on our necks.
We've been to Lubbock few times should go see that Buddy Holly museum.
We go to that Mall to compare to Westgate here in Amarillo. Used to have a Kmart, but, think it's closed up. Eat BBQ at Rudy's close to the Mall

You remember that young bald guy who was always getting in trouble and worshipped his Father? Wondered if he ever got straightened out ? I liked the scenes with the big wigs calling the shots and when they would send out somebody to find out what was going on. Everybody bowed and scraped when they would show up. Miss that show.
I think all those 'haboos' are down in Lubbock. I'm glad of that. I had an old timer tell me Amarillo used to get them, but, now they're mostly South.

Well, if you ever decide to relocate to the ABQ area, we have Rudy's here, too!
