I really think those Emmanuel's, sort of steered Diana into that monstrosity of a wedding gown. She was young ,and inexperienced, and  they overwhelmed her. She broke with them soon after the wedding

For one thing they should have known that silk taffeta would crease terribly..She was a rumpled mess when she got out of that carriage

I would bet a lot of money that not only is that NOT the dress but probably not even the designer.  Both of these facts are closely guarded (even some dummy material/dresses to throw off media)up until actual ceremony (per today's NYT).  The dress could even cost way more than 100,000£ -- it's all about promoting tourism by building this up to a frenzy.
