Isnt the sender responsible for filing a claim for lost packages?   Was it insured?

@Kachina624

Good point, but tracking showed that the package was delivered!

I recently ordered a purse and never received it.  The tracking says delivered to parcel locker 1 day ago.  For anyone that doesn't know what a parcel locker is, I have a p.o. box at the post office.  When a package is too big for the box, the clerk will put the package in a parcel locker and put the key to the parcel locker in my p.o. box.  Well, I never received the key.

When I went to the post office today, they couldn't find my package.  They checked all the parcel lockers and surrounding p.o. boxes and nothing.  The supervisor told me he will check with the clerk tomorrow and get back to me.  He said to let the vendor know and to put a claim in.  The package was insured for $100.00, but not the full $153.00 that I paid for the purse.  The supervisor also said the clerk made a mistake because she didn't log the package into the log in sheet.  So she didn't do protocol.

My question is, did I just lose my money?  The $53.00 that wasn't insured?  The seller is not being helpful at all.  Will ebay consider this NOT my fault and reimburse me, even though the tracking says delivered?

HELP PLEASE!

I sell on eBay.... you Seller is required to refund you the entire amount of the purse!  Then HE/SHE goes and contacts USPS to get their refund. Buying insurance is the responsibility of the SELLER and not the buyer!  The seller shorting the value of the insurance is a risk the SELLER takes.  If you do not get a full refund including initial shipping costs....  open a dispute with eBay on this Seller.  Save all information you have, all paperwork (if you have any), all email, etc.  Also, if you talk to the seller maintain a very professionl attitude but be firm in knowing what I'm telling you.  Ebay looks at all the messages back and forth in a dispute~!

Very good luck~!  I'm sorry this has happened to you.... but it is the Seller's responsibility to get an item TO YOU, and him/her getting enough nsurance to cover a problem is the Seller's problem~!!

@Q4u

I buy and sell on eBay. I ran into a situation in which tracking showed that a purse I sold was delivered. The recipient claimed she did not get it. eBay sided with me because I had shipped it properly and the post office said it had been delivered.

I've had this happen as a Seller... I refunded the buyer immediately and then went to work trying to find out what happened to the package.

The package was also scanned as delivered by USPS, BUT WAS NOT DELIVERED TO YOU, and THEIR RECORDS SHOW THAT. You know from the scan when the package was supposed to have been given to the local PO, where it should have been put in a locker and then a key to the locker put in your PO box. From what you said, all that info should have been LOGGED IN and WAS NOT. I'd be putting the focus on the last person in the chain of custody, the woman who failed to follow procedure and log the package in. It disappeared IN HER CUSTODY, from the PO's own records. I'd be hammering that home with the PO supervisor.

THIS!

I'd also be communicating with the Seller because those messages are read by eBay when you open a dispute concerning this!  Nicely tell her all the info you received from USPS.  Make sure you go back to your post office and get the names of the personnel who handled the package, the person you spoke to about it all, the supervisor's name and telephone number and put the date on it.  Get it all in writing, whether it's your list or they compile a list for you.....(you may need to send this list to eBay).  Contact your Seller regarding all this information (whether she responds or not) is important.  It's a message reference to eBay regarding all this and they take it seriously.

Your Seller is trying to disuade you from going further... after all, she has your payment and she shipped the purse, she feels her "responsibility" is done.

However, if she feels she can't refund you until she knows for sure the item was lost....  you feel diferently, you KNOW it was lost, your post office knows it was lost and you would like eBay to step in to resolve the dispute.  But before you open a dispute, have all your ducks in a row... get as much info from the P.O. as you can, get it in writing if you can (if not, you write it down).  Send messages to the Seller with all the info you have regarding this (remember you don't really care if she responds or not) in order to get your info into the message system for eBay)....

Also CALL eBay (1-866-540-3229) and explain what has happened and ask them what you should do now?  Again, this is mainly to get your story recorded and to have this issue marked down into your account!!  ALL THIS will be noted by eBay when the dispute is opened and they will take your far more seriously.

NOW you can open a dispute with eBay and your Seller will be forced to be part of the dispute until it is resolved.....  good luck!

True, however this buyer's situation is a little different in that her post office knows who handled it and knows it wasn't delivered the way it should have been.  Extenuating circumstances may help our buyer....

@Q4u

Thanks for all your help.  Well, this is what's going on now.

eBay decided in the seller's favor because the package scans as delivered.  To them, I guess, that is gospel!

I put in a claim with eBay's appeals process.  I had to fill out an ic3 document and scan it to them.  That's where this stands right now.

The post office can't locate the package and they told me to go to usps.com and file a claim.

The seller isn't helpful and can't be bothered.  I'm going to give her a negative review when this is over.

I feel like this might be the end of my shopping days on the bay.

I am so very sorry this is happening to you....  But I do have to say that there are many honorable, caring sellers on eBay, I hope  you don't give up on eBay because of this.  I'm glad you are following through with USPS and ic3 (they are in partnership with the FBI and take mail theft seriously)... much good luck!

I got my money back!  YAY!  eBay's appeals process worked.  They are going to refund it back to Pay Pal.  As soon as I get my money in my account, I'm leaving the seller negative feedback for not trying to help me with this.  I was on the phone for 1/2 the day yesterday with eBay.  Thanks for all your help with this process!

I am SO glad!  Ebay is pretty good if you give them a chance and are persistent which you were!

I think a negative for your seller is called for but be prepared for her to leave you a "reply" to your feedback!  If it's nasty, complain to eBay.  Also you are allowed to leave a reply to her reply!  Go to the site map and find feedback and click on it, it should take you to the reply-to....

ALSO.... she can't leave you a negative but she sure can leave you a bad review with a positive!  This is not allowed, if she does call eBay and insist eBay take it down!  I'm not sure but she may also be able to leave a reply to her feedback left for you.  If any of what she does is objectionable to you, call eBay and complain!

But most of all, glad you got your money back~!

@Q4u

Can you believe this?  I left a negative feedback for this seller and eBay removed it instaneously from her feedback.  This is what they said:

Recently, you opened an eBay Buyer Protection case for New Patricia Nash Leather Carrara Exotic Bird Fringe tassel Crossbody drawstring. We also received the feedback you left for the transaction, but it's been removed from the seller's feedback profile because of a recent decision on the eBay Buyer Protection case.

You can always view the case details in the Resolution Center or learn more about eBay feedback policies.

So, I guess that even though she wasn't willing to help me with this, and eBay even says the sellers should help the buyers, since I won the appeal, I can't leave negative feedback? Never heard of such a thing.  I'm so sick of eBay at this point!  LOL
