I live in Ohio and it is very cold here with lots of snow. There are two wild cats who I have been feeding for some time. One is a male, and one is a smaller black one- I do not know what it is. I have noticed this one for about a year, and sometimes when you see a cat outdoors, there is a possibility that it has a home and is just out roaming. But with the weather we have had, I really don't think that either has a home, because I see them at all times of the day and night.
I would like to catch this smaller black one and have it fixed. If I were to catch it, I would try to find it a home. We have four cats already, and it seems like every time we add a new one to the mix, we have a few who start to act up on our carpets. (this software would not let me type the word I wanted to use) Over the years, I have had alot of trouble with this behavior. I know two in particular, who do this.
Would I buy one of those wild animal traps at Tractor Supply to get it? It runs when it sees me. We are feeding the larger one near our back door, and we left the food out last night and I saw that much was gone this morning-I think the black one was near the door eating during the night. We have food out in the backyard, under a sheltered area for the other black one- and I see it all times during the day eating. We started putting the food out in the sheltered area only a few days ago, because I actually saw the black one eating the deer food. I could continue with the feeding and then put the food in the trap and see if I could get it. The Animal Protective Guild has a low cost spay neuter clinic here- $50 for females and $40 for males.
It is really bothering me that these animals are out there, and I keep thinking, that is this black one is a female, she will probably have kittens in the spring if I don't get her soon. Thanks, all, if anyone has any ideas for me.
