Re: Hello Winter

[ Edited ]

I'm in Chicago and it snowed all day yesterday (luckily it didn't stick because the ground is too warm).  Personally, I prefer cooler temps (40s-50s).  Before too long it will be sweltering and before I go anywhere I will have to factor in how sweaty I'll be when I get there Smiley Sad

I'm jealous!  Smiley Happy

We got what I imagine was probably our last bit of winter last Sunday night/Monday.   It snowed during the night.  It only left some 6+ inches up at my house but it snowed lightly to medium for much of Monday, until about 4pm.   The mountains got a very good amount.   It was so great!  I love love love winter.

Our winter started out nicely in December and I had hopes that it w/b like all the winters we had for decades.  Alas, that pretty much went away for the next few months.

It seems that Winter is not quite ready to leave us yet! I live in NYC and luckily didn't get any snow. The winds though are crazy and it is cold. There were places in the tri-state area that did get snow. I went food shopping and the wind was blowing me forward! I'm not a Yankee fan (Mets fan opening tonight) and opening day does not look promising weather wise.

@Jordan2, I'm in NYC, as well.  I was planning to do some weeding and pruning in my backyard today.  Instead, I'm trying to think of ways to protect some shrubs that already have buds on them.  I'm afraid I might lose them over the next 2-3 nights as the temps may fall to freezing or below, and I'd hate to have to wait another year to see any blooms.  Simply crazy....80 degrees on Friday, and 34 degrees as I write this at 12:50 pm on Sunday.

I have seen gardeners already in my neighborhood. My next door neighbor who uses my gardener asked about 2 weeks ago when was he coming. I bet he's glad he hasn't started yet!

We had a foot of snow last week and looks like it's headed that way again this week.

Here in Northern California, the high predicted for today is 76 degrees with it reaching 83 by Wednesday. I just finished a 2 mile walk, admiring all the trees and flowers in bloom. Yet people are still driving to the mountains where there is an abundance of snow for skiing.

Here in Nova Scotia we have rain today with the possibility of snow overnight.  It is going to be cool all week.  Ontario and Newfoundland are going through a polar vortex.  Gross.  Come on Spring!!!  LM
