@Tinkrbl44  Good analysis. Yes, an addict is always an 'addict' and once clean and sober become a 'recovering addict' IMHO, all these so called shake and bake recovery centers do is sober them up and put them back out into the same set of environmental and cultural circumstances from which they came. Same set of triggers. So, is it all about the money, a revolving door of relapse, recovery and relapse?

Active alcoholism (where the addict is using) does make you a 'hot mess'.Law enforcement can attest to that.

Alcoholics Anonymous calls it 'life becoming unmanageable ', not only for the addict but for all the lives the addict touches. Hence, Al-Anon.

It is an insidious disease that never gets better, there is no cure for it other than complete abstinence, and those who suffer from it must remain diligent about it for their lifetimes.

When in remission, life for the addict can become 'normal' and fruitful. AA is always encouraging to share your 'experience, strength and hope (from AA Big Book)' to help others when possible.

There, but for the grace of God (or whatever your Higher Power is) goes I.

Every adjective being used in this thread is correct when dealing with alcoholism. I should know, my dad was an alcoholic. A very well functioning alcoholic, but still an alcoholic.

@KingstonsMom  No I didn't say he did the right thing. I was surprised that her own brother involved LE - result, she was arrested and now has all this bad publicity.

There were 2 grown men there --- I'm sure they could've handled whatever was going on.

Because I agreed with you, that the brother did the right thing, but your post sounded like you thought that I didn't agree with you.

We both agree that the brother did the right thing in calling 911.
