The friend had not posted a word in 2 months EXCEPT for private massaging. I sure don't want to think that something said in a PRIVATE message would get someone banned.

That would certainly go far beyond policing what is said on the forums for everyone to see.

Re: Heads up about HSN forums

I checked those forums out after someone here posted about them. Seemed more or less a dead zone, sorry to say. I don't think you and your friend are missing much. But on principle alone; any PM snooping is more like eaves-dropping than moderating. Still, with things as they are these days ... I'd wager they'd still be within their rights. I hope you hear back from someone - could be resulting from technical issues. Or they've hired themselves some rouge mods and should be made aware of either possibility.

golfcartrider.... I have posted on both boards... and observed what you have talked about. At first I had the kind of reaction you did, but then I thought about it.... I have a feeling that it would be a waste of money to hire a lawyer. My daughter is a lawyer and she and I talk about all kinds of issues.... she thinks the cost of paying an investigator to look into how the decision was made to "ban" someone and all of the billable hours for a lawyer would be high.

This is nothing but a pastime for people and before any company would put a lot of money into defending themselves they just might close down the boards. That would solve their problems and take away the fun for many people. I wouldn't want to take these forums away from the people who enjoy them so much because my words were poofed or that they might decide to ban me. I really don't need to be on this board this much. I don't have an ax to grind. I would rather give the money to research to save lives or some positive cause.

I urge you to take a look at the bigger picture.

Thank You Game-on. I tend to get to a angry over the little things and yes this is indeed a little thing.

You are so right! They are dead over there because of the police state of their moderators. You can't be negative about anything. They expect everyone to be sunshine and flowers all of the time. The posters are so scared of being banned that they are to the point of being over phony and you can tell it. I tried to liven things up a bit. Just try and give an honest opinion about a show host and wham you are deleted. You are not allowed to mention their hair, clothes, demeaner, facelifts, telling really big fibs about products etc. You are only allowed to talk about the good things about them.

They even posted their guidelines stating that they would "police" everything said and act accordingly.

OK I have had my rant I am so over them. they are not worth my time. Oh I did get a notice that I was banned from the forums, arcades, and a couple of other community related things BUT I am NOT banned from spending my money on products. Go figure. They want my money but not my words.

Re: Heads up about HSN forums

My first question is after reading your venting about Hsn..what exactly did you say that upset the forum at Hsn?? I can't imagine Hsn would just kick someone off for nothing. Was it part of the guidelines you violated or did you make some one mad for some reason... I would like to hear both sides of the story before I make any judgements about anyone. I am just wondering, thats all.

Cudos to them not allowing host bashing. Don't see the point in even posting such nonsense about a host - Your honest opinion or not. When posting on a companies private BB, it should just be common sense not to do this unless you want to cause a controversy and stir things up.

I have posted on theirs about products etc and have never had a problem.

Agreed. Imagine what it would be like here, if people could not bash Lisa, or Shawn?

Oh my goodness! What would they do with themselves, if they could not bash the hosts?{#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

Was Yuban, then changed to Plaid Pants due to forum upgrade, and apparently, I'm back to being Yuban.

Re: Heads up about HSN forums

it sounds like she broke the forum rules by "livening things up..' It is THEIR board and I say good for them for not allowing their staff to be abused and bashed. They are doing a job and if you do not like it..you don't have to tune in, watch, go to their forums and yes spend your money..

I can't imagine having so little to do that I would find it necessary to tune in and then run to their forums to liven it up by bashing their employees..

On 2/11/2014 only shops online said: Don't take it personally. I signed up over there several years ago, and posted just a couple of times about hobbies and sewing. Certainly nothing controversial about that. A few months after my last post, I tried to sign in and it came up that I was banned. I'm sure their website has issues. I really never pursued the problem because it wasn't that important to me. I'm sure that is what your problem is also.

What really bothers me is that they police every word people say even in the Private Messages. They are blatantly violating my and others right to free speech. I have made friends that I talk with on HSN and this really makes me mad.

I am going to talk to an attorney about the situation and I hope to find a hungry one that will let me sue them and get them off their police high horse. Someone needs to put a stop to what is going on over their and I hope I am the one to do it.

Their website, their rules. Your constitutional rights don't apply there. Best to move on.
